Just to give you an idea on the considerations bathroom remodels require:
- Some homes were constructed with drains and plumbing under the concrete slab. To relocate pluming is quite a labor intensive task.
- If old cast iron pipes were used when the home was built, they should be replaced to avoid rust and decay that can cause serious issues and endanger the foundation of your home.
- Licensed plumbers are required to install new shower pans if they are necessary. However, shower pans are not necessary if your existing shower is recessed into the floor.
- A reputable waterproofing agent will seal the sloped concrete floor before the tile is installed to prevent under slab leaks.

How Much Does a Master Bathroom Remodel Cost?
A master bathroom is more challenging to accurately price. However, typical costs range from $25,000 to $40,000 with an average of $30,000. The expenses can accelerate very quickly if the finishes chosen are high end. Add-ons that cost more include, but are not limited to:
- Custom cabinetry
- Custom mitered edge countertops
- Pedestal or claw foot tubs
- Multiple showerheads or full body showers
- Steam units
- Bidets or heated toilets
- Frameless glass enclosure
